PREMIUM GRASS-FED BEEF

At Slate Hill Cattle Company, we ethically and humanely raise the rare and mighty Austrian Pinzgauer breed of cattle on our Cloverbud Ranch. Our beef is free of any hormones, antibiotics, or vaccines, and raised on our lush coastal pastures. Our cattle are 100% purebred Pinzgauer that are never given grains or corn. Our cattle are rotationally grazed around our pastures at their leisure and are raised in a no stress environment. Our cattle are born on our 100+ acre ranch in Portsmouth, Rhode Island and will spend their entire lives on the ranch before being taken in for processing. We also work with a longtime friend/fellow rancher in Vermont who raises a small herd for us so as to not overload our land capacity at our Portsmouth ranch location. Once processed, our beef hangs and dry ages for 2-3 weeks before being cryo-sealed, packaged, and ready for sell.

Our goal is to take a calf from birth, raise it on our pastures for 24-30 months, then process and have ready to you, the consumer. Most commerical beef cattle are processed around 15-18 months, but we prefer to extend our maturity time in order to provide greater fat marbling, and to allow for greater nutrient uptake from the carotenoids in the grass that is responsible for the mouth watering flavor that comes from the “yellow fat” that you see only in 100% pure grassfed beef.

We also sell our purebred Pinzgauer heifers, bulls, and weaned calves, that can be used for breeding stock on your own farm/ranch, or can be used for show quality stock.  We also offer our “herd share” program that allows you to own a cow on our ranch, while we take care of it for you.
